Team / organisation unit description

The Accounting and Controlling Specialist is responsible for ensuring that internal and external accounting and reporting for Automotive and Industrial businesses is prepared in accordance with IFRS and BP Group Accounting policies for the designated entity(ies) and businesses. This role is accountable for the integrity of accounting across the end to end process, and provides assurance to the Accounting, Reporting and Control Manager.
The role works closely with business stakeholders to ensure matters of control, financial system requirements, capability and integrity are properly considered and applied, and provides the main interface with audit/tax and global businesses. The role will support the ARC Manager to lead and facilitate the commercial Risk Management process in the local entities to ensure risks are identified and managed.


Tasks and activities

  • Ensure that the Group reporting manual is properly applied at the local entity level and all accounting judgements are consulted, evidenced, documented and approved
  • Act as finance Subject Matter Expert to the business
  • Oversee and validate reporting for the local entity(ies) and provide assurance to the ARC Manager on the integrity of the financial reports
  • Ensuring adherence to the financial standardization agenda
  • Ensure financial reporting meets the requirements for Group reporting
  • Ensure requirements of all local legislation over financial reporting, accounting and control are met, including Statutory and Tax Reporting where relevant
  • Responsible for the oversight of the local entities balance sheet and cash flow, and treatment of cross charges for the costs
  • Accountable for assuring the accuracy & completeness of the actuals / forecast process
  • Ensure delivery of the annual planning & rolling forecast process for the local entity
  • Support the ARC Manager on the control agenda across the local entity(ies) and plants
  • Support the ARC Manager to lead the Risk Management process
  • Drive continuous improvement projects (e.g. via the accounting, reporting & control network)
  • Coaches the wider finance and business teams, to build capabilities and develop competencies and professional qualifications

Requirements

  • Relevant degree (with recognised national or international professional accountancy qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CPA. or working towards this)
  • Extensive experience (at least 5 years) of reporting and MI processes (actuals, RF & plan)
  • Proven track record in controls, compliance & risk management
  • Proven track record demonstrating ability to interact with and influence people at all levels within the organisation, building strong relationships quickly
  • A strong understanding of IT&S infrastructure (preferably SAP)
  • Looks for ways to do things better, faster and more efficiently, and drive continuous improvement methodology
  • Fluency in English and German
